Poco M2 Pro Mid-Range Smartphone Tipped to Release Soon

Poco M2 Pro is said to have a codenamed "gram" in the development. The latest product comes only one day after the Poco M2 Pro was discovered on Xiaomi India's RF Exposure page — alongside the recently unveiled Mi 10 5G. The latest Poco phone is not expected to be a flagship of the company that was split by Xiaomi earlier this year. Instead, it's being speculated as another mid-range smartphone — after the Poco X2. The Poco M2 Pro may have some similarities to the Redmi Note 9 Pro that Xiaomi launched in India in March.

With the model number M2003J6CI, Poco M2 Pro has been developing the codename gram, reports XDA Developers, citing a few of its forum members. The model number in question is similar to that of Redmi Note 9 Pro, which is listed as M2003J6A1I by Xiaomi. One of the XDA forum leaders have allegedly spotted firmware for a device that bears the cryptonym "gram in global." This suggests the Indian version of Poco's unannounced phone.

Similarities to Redmi Note 9 Pro

It has been confirmed that certain connections to the phone codenamed gram have emerged in the kernel source code and the Redmi Note 9 Pro firmware. This points at the resemblance of the latest Redmi handset. It is also assumed that both the Redmi Note 9 Pro and the latest Poco phone have the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 720 G SoC.

From what we've seen in the past, specifically with the launch of the Poco X2, which is just a rebranding of the Redmi K30, Poco could bring the Poco M2 Pro with a slightly tweaked Redmi Note 9 Pro hardware. Poco has not yet made any confirmations about the Poco M2 Pro. However, since the phone was spotted on the RF Exposure page on Xiaomi's India site, it is quite likely that the brand will be able to make its announcement soon.
