Apple will reopen stores in the US Next Week

Apple announced on Friday that it will gradually reopen its retail stores in the US next week, taking pandemic precautions, such as ensuring that everyone in the US wears masks. The iPhone maker has decided to open several shops in Alabama, Alaska, Idaho and South Carolina. "We missed our customers and look forward to providing our help," Apple said in a message to AFP. "Firstly, we would give up new protection measures, including temperature sensors, social differences and face coverings, to insure that consumers and staff are protected."

Apple said it is tracking safety records and policy guidelines to assess when and when it will legally re-open stores. New protocols in Apple stores will include limiting the number of customers who can be inside, which means likely delays for those who spontaneously stop using the Genius Bar for technical assistance. Apple recommended that people order online for delivery or pick-up in-store to limit personal contact.

Apple's change arrives despite many US states working to stop or ease lockdowns, but with polling showing that several Americans remain wary about resuming regular activities.
